Mrs. Shirley Thompson Bates was born December 11, 1938 in Pulaski, TN, the daughter of the late James Otis and Lena Campbell Thompson. Mrs. Bates had worked as a medical clerk with Dr. J.V. Mangubat's office. She was a member of Green River Baptist Church and she loved being a foster grandmother at WES with Teresa Evans for many years.
Mrs. Bates departed this life on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 82 Years, 1 Month, 12 Days.
She is survived by sons, Ken Brashears and wife, Kim of Athens, AL, Steve Brashears of Waynesboro, TN and Fagan Erwin and wife, Wanda of Pulaski, TN; daughter, Tami Hurst and husband, Joey of Waynesboro, TN; grandchildren, Jamie Brashears, Kristin Walker, Heather Brashears, Cody Brashears, Tommy Brashers, Ben Erwin, Kayleigh Beth Hurst, Riley Brashears and Grace Brashears; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Mangubat of Waynesboro, TN; nieces, Karen Serafini and Diane LeBlanc and nephews, Jim Mangubat and Rick Mangubat.
Services will be Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Kerry Franks officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Methodist Church Cemetery, Lawrenceburg (Wayne Co), Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family. Pallbeaers will be Jim Mangubat, Rick Mangubat, Luke Mangubat, Matt Todd, Farris Hunter and Eddie Jones with Chad Moore and Austin Mangubat serving as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
