Shirley Mae Coleman, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 68. Born on May 22, 1957, in Trosper, Kentucky, to the late Jess and Mary Marcum, Shirley eventually made her home in Selmer, Tennessee, where she became a cornerstone of her family and community.
A talented seamstress, Shirley spent many years working for major manufacturers, including Action Apparel and Capro. Her hardworking spirit also led her to serve at the McNairy County Developmental Center. Shirley was a woman of faith who attended Ramer Baptist and Lakeview Baptist Churches. On December 3, 1976, she married the love of her life, Larry D. Coleman, beginning a journey of nearly 50 years together.
Shirley found joy in the simple pleasures: planting vibrant flowers, scouting for treasures at yard sales, and shopping. She was a dedicated fan of the Atlanta Braves, but her true passion was her family. She was at her happiest when cooking for large family gatherings and, most importantly, watching her grandchildren grow.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bradley Scott Coleman; five brothers, Gus, Jess Willard, Hugh, Ledford, and Gus Marcum; and four sisters, Stella Mae Jones, Della Mae Collins, Olina Jones.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Larry D. Coleman; three sons, Larry Paul (Elizabeth) Coleman and Justin M. (Amber) Coleman, all of Selmer, and Larry Patrick Coleman of Jacksboro, KY; a daughter, Margie Grubb of Barbourville, KY; a sister, Geneva (Buster) Jenkins of London, KY; and three brothers, H.C., Charles, and George Marcum, all of Trosper, KY.
Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Matthew Tyner (Paizlee), Michael Paul, Jayden Bradley, and John Luke Coleman, all of Selmer; Hannah Elizabeth (Zane) Brown of Jackson, TN; Jeremiah, Conner, and Caleb Coleman of Jacksboro, KY; and Dalton and Tessa Grubb of Barbourville, KY.
The family wishes to extend special recognition to Brian and Judy Hood, the entire staff at Adamsville Healthcare, and a host of nieces and nephews.
