SHIRLEY MITCHELL MURPHY
was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on July 7, 1935 the daughter of the late Dan and Essie Bernice Banks Mitchell.
On March 17, 1955 she was united in marriage to John Riley "J.R." Murphy, who preceded his wife in death on May 4, 2006.
Shirley worked for Brown Shoe Manufacturing and was a member of Living Word Fellowship. In her spare time she enjoyed making doll clothes, crocheting, and collecting china. Shirley loved being outdoors, and especially fishing. She loved spending time with her grandchildren as much as she could.
Shirley departed this life on October 21, 2018 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 14 days.
She is survived by her three sons, Jim Murphy, Bill Murphy and Ray Murphy, all of Savannah, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Jeremy Murphy of Arlington, Texas, Andrea Mack of Savannah, Tennessee, Kyle Murphy of Savannah, Tennessee, Zack Murphy of Savannah, Tennessee and Hayden Murphy of Savannah, Tennessee; two great grandchildren, Parker Hyde Murphy and Reagan Lucille Murphy, both of Savannah, Tennessee; three brothers, Lonnie Mitchell of Sardis, Tennessee, Donnie Mitchell of Scotts Hill, Tennessee and James Earl Mitchell of Lexington, Tennessee; and one sister, Judy Paige of Memphis, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by one sister, Bobbie Jo Love and three brothers, O. T. Michell, Tom Mitchell and John H. Mitchell.
