Shirley Roland was born April 5, 1937 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late Elby and Flossie King. She was the fifth of sixteen children.
She was united in marriage to William Curtis Roland on May 4, 1957.
Mrs. Roland was the real life "June Cleaver" and prided herself in caring for and loving her family with the sweet and gentle touch of a true southern lady. She managed to keep an immaculate house while raising three sons and working as a book keeper for Holiday Inn in Memphis for 15 years. She was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Selmer, Tennessee.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She was a lady with great integrity, pride, and discipline. Proverbs 31:10-31 best describes the life of Mrs. Shirley Roland. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Roland departed this life on December 21, 2016 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 79 Years, 8 Months, 16 Days. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Curtis Roland of Selmer, TN; three sons, Jeff Roland and wife Cindy of Arnold, MO, Tim Roland and wife Karen of Charlottesville, VA, Scott Roland and wife Ladonna of Selmer, TN; five sisters, Faye Taylor, Coy Jetters, Jo Seidler and husband Fred, Kathy Dye, Patricia Exum and husband Don; six grandchildren, Lyndsey Smith and husband Daniel, Candace Candeto and husband David, Charlotte Roland, Haley Roland, Jesse Roland, Hannah Martin Settlemires and husband Deven; four great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Roland was preceded in death by three sisters, Rachel King, Brenda King, Willie Sue King; six brothers, Milford, George, James, Kenneth, Johnny, and Roger King.
