Simone V. Ferge

December 4, 1948 — September 16, 2025

Somerville, Tennessee

Simone V. Ferge, a loving mother, grandmother, and treasured member of her community, passed away on September 16, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee. Born on December 4, 1948, in Austria, Simone made Fayette County her lifelong home and embraced the community with warmth and kindness.

A proud graduate of Fayette County High School in 1967, Simone dedicated her professional life to serving others. She married the love of her life, Donald "Hot-Shot" Ferge, on July 14, 1967, and he preceded her in death on August 12, 2018. She began her career as a teller with Bancorp South before taking on the role of line supervisor at Sharp Manufacturing, where she worked from 1984 until 2000. Additionally, she embraced the role of homemaker with joy and passion, focusing on her family, which she loved dearly.

Simone was known for her exceptional ability to crochet exquisite quilts, a testament to her creativity and nurturing spirit. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. Sunday dinners were a tradition in her household, where laughter and love could always be found.

A devoted member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Simone also attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she contributed to the fabric of her community through her faith and service. She was a beacon of light for all who knew her, always ready with a smile or a helping hand.

She leaves behind her beloved sons, Waylon Rhea Ferge of Somerville, Joseph Ferge of Lakeland, and Brian Ferge (Jamie) of Smithville, Tennessee. Simone is also survived by her sisters, Sylvia Kee (Ray) of LaGrange and Vickie Thompson of Somerville, as well as her brothers, Jeff Voyles and Rick Voyles (Dana), both of Somerville. Her legacy will live on through her grandchildren: Logan, Ethan, Kennedy, Jack, Madison, Jaxson, Bailee, and Mason Ferge and Anna McAdams, along with her great-grandchild, Parker Ferge.

Simone is reunited in spirit with her late husband, Donald "Hot-Shot" Ferge, her parents, Audie and Helen Voyles, and her brother, Randy Voyles, who have all left a lasting imprint on her heart and the hearts of her family.

A visitation will be held on September 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Whiteville.

As we reflect on the life of Simone Voyles Ferge, we honor a remarkable woman whose love for her family and commitment to her community will be remembered for generations to come. May her gentle spirit continue to inspire those lucky enough to have known her.  Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to St. Jude children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate).
