Stanley Todd
Smith
November 30, 1970 – May 3, 2026
Stanley Todd Smith, affectionately known to many as “Hoss,” passed away in May 2026 at the age of 55. Born on November 30, 1970, in Selmer, Tennessee, to the late Gerald and Linda Smith, Stanley was a true "gentle giant" whose presence was as large as his heart.
Stanley was a dedicated team lead in the warehouse at Caterpillar in Corinth, Mississippi. Outside of work, he was a man of the earth. He possessed a legendary green thumb, inherited from his father, the famous “mater-man.” While his father was known for planting thousands of vines, Stanley carved out his own legacy in the garden, once famously growing a watermelon that tipped the scales at an incredible 226 pounds.
His talents extended from the garden to the grill. Stanley was a master at smoking meat, a skill he used not only to feed his loved ones but also to support his community, often volunteering his time and talent to smoke meat for various local fundraisers. Those who knew him best will remember him for his quick wit and his love of a good practical joke, always delivered with a mischievous grin.
Though he grew up in a sharecropper’s home during lean years, he always maintained that he was the richest man alive because of the immense love and care provided by his parents and his two older sisters.
In recent years, he shared his life and home in Glen, Mississippi, with his devoted companion of five years, Pam Phillips. Together, they created a blended family full of warmth and support.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Linda Smith.
Stanley is survived by his daughter, Megan Michael and husband Joseph of Selmer, TN; his son, Trent Smith and his girlfriend Kallie Harrison; and his sisters, Cindy Hamm and husband Keith of Ramer, TN, and Roxanne Sims and husband David of Selmer, TN. He also leaves behind his cherished nieces and nephews: Brandon Hamm, Brent Hamm and wife Hannah, Ashley Wilson and husband Tyler, and John Sims and wife Lauren; and two great-nieces, Lily and Audrey Wilson.
He is further survived by his partner, Pam Phillips, and her children whom he loved: Anthony, Matthew, and Trey Phillips, and Trey’s son, Tripp.
