Stephen Craig King, a man whose laughter came easy and whose love for his family ran deep, was born on June 14, 1971, in Selmer, Tennessee, the son of Larry Joe King and Annie Jane McMahan Ray.
Stephen spent over 20 years working at GE in Selmer, where he built not only a career but lasting friendships. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple, meaningful things in life. He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church, but attended Locke Road Baptist Church.
Stephen carried his humor and lighthearted spirit wherever he went. Known as a jokester, he was always ready with a prank or a playful grin, bringing laughter to those around him in a way only he could.
He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, and could often be found enjoying time on his computer, playing games and unwinding. Stephen had a special place in his heart for his dogs, caring for them with the same loyalty and devotion he showed to all he loved. A devoted fan of Alabama football, he cheered passionately, sharing that excitement with family and friends.
Above all, Stephen treasured his family. Whether it was time spent together, shared laughter, or quiet moments, those were the memories he valued most—and the ones his loved ones will hold onto forever.
Mr. King departed this life on April 22, 2026, in Franklin, Tennessee, at the age of 54 years, 10 months, and 8 days.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Annie Jane (McMahan) Ray of Pocahontas, Tennessee; his father, Larry Joe King of Ashland, Mississippi; his siblings, Roger Dale Ray of Pocahontas, Tennessee, Jimmy Neal Ray and wife Stephanie of Ramer, Tennessee, Laurie Robertson and husband Steve of Pocahontas, Tennessee, Heather Tipler and companion James Alberson of Faulkner, Mississippi, Samantha Alberson of Columbia, Mississippi, Susan Hall and companion Scott of Michie, Tennessee, and Nicky King and wife Amanda of Potts Camp, Mississippi; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever remember his humor, his kindness, and the love he gave so freely.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bradley King; his stepfather, Roger Ray; and his stepmother, Kathy King.
Stephen’s life was a reminder that joy can be found in laughter, love can be shown in the smallest moments, and family is the greatest blessing of all.
