STEVE SANDERS

Jackson, TN: James Steven Sanders, age 65, passed away December 20, 2025, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born September 6, 1960, in Henderson, the son of the late James Franklin and Elvie Lee Patterson Sanders. He grew up in the Montezuma Community of Chester County and was a 1978 graduate of Chester County High School.

He began working in construction with his dad out of high school and remained in construction most of his working career.

He married Lisa Broughton Kafka in 1994, they made their home in Jackson. She died six months later due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Steve enjoyed traveling, riding ATV’s and playing pool in his younger years, he was also a NASCAR Fan and enjoyed spending time with friends. Steve was very smart and had excellent memory.

Mr. Sanders is survived by a stepson, Christian Kafka (Holly) of Pensacola, FL and two sisters, Janice Schultz (Johnie) of Pinson and Pam Sanders Clayton of Jackson and three step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lisa Kafka Sanders.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, Dec. 27th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue, burial will follow at Montezuma Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time on Saturday.
