Steve Tidwell

George Steven (Steve) Tidwell of Adamsville, Tennessee left this world to join our Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 6, 2026. Born January 20, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee, son of the late George E. (Jakie) Tidwell and the late Ernestine Pyron Tidwell of Adamsville. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Sherry Tidwell DeBerry.

Steve proudly served in the United States Army and was deployed to active combat duty in Vietnam from 1965-1967. He worked for many years as an independent insurance adjuster for Dickens and Challen, Inc in Jackson, TN and then later as a loan officer for South Bank in Selmer, Tennessee before retiring. He served on the Adamsville Industrial Board. Never one to sit idle, he lived out his days raising cattle and could be seen most days at his farm tending to his herd side by side with Barbara, the love of his life. He loved his boys and treasured his time with them and their families.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Barbara Robinson Tidwell; his sons, Stephen Craig (Cindy) Tidwell of Dalton, GA, Chad (Kelly) Tidwell of Collierville, TN; his grandchildren, Chase of Alpharetta, GA, Olivia of Dalton, GA and Sam Tidwell of Nashville, TN; Sayler and Tatum Tidwell both of Collierville, TN; his sister, Cathy Tidwell Venable of Medon, TN; nephews and niece, Greg Deberry, Mark Deberry and Megan Venable King.

The family wishes to thank Barbara’s sisters, Carolyn James and Sherry (Tim) Tyson; Brandie (Tony) Lowrey and Brittany Garvin. They would also like to thank Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS and Deaconess Home Health for the excellent care and compassion they provided.
