Sue Jean Griffin Daniel, 75, of Hopewell, MS passed away Sunday afternoon May 9, 2010 at her home.
The wife of Thomas Gaston Daniel, who survives, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Daniel was born August 30, 1934 in Ripley, MS to the late Ernest Griffin and Kittie Lou Gaillard Griffin and grew up in Ashland, MS. She was employed by McGregor, Wurlitzer, ABC, and in the Mississippi Extension Office as a nutritionist. She was an April 1953 graduate of the Ashland High School, enjoyed crafts and knitting afghans for babies and loved children. She was involved as a 4-H Club Leader, in the Homemaker’s Club and the Friendship Club. Mrs. Daniel was a member of Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 55 years, serving as a Sunday School teacher and in Vacation Bible School.
In addition to her husband, whom she married April 25, 1953, she is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Kathy Jean Daniel Wilburn and Wayne of Hopewell and Judy Lynn Daniel Blackard and Bobby, Jr. of Saulsbury; a son and his wife, David Thomas Daniel and Christie of Middleton; three sisters, Ernestine Simpson and husband, Milton of Ashland, MS, Nell Fortner of Nashville and Nancy Womack of Smyrna; a brother and his wife, James T. Griffin and Sue of Bartlett; eight grandchildren, Jennifer W. Braddock and husband, Ryan, Kimberly Burnette, Cory W. Wilburn and wife, Amanda, Thomas Eric Russell and fiance', Brittany, Zachery T.S. Daniel, Kourtney L. Daniel, Kayla B. Daniel, Kaitlin D. Daniel; four great grandchildren, Kayden Braddock, Eli Wilburn, Caden Levi Russell and Trenton D. Braddock; and her best friend, Frances Leake. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy Griffin and Elaine Griffin.
