Sue Nell Hockaday

On May 1, 1938, Sue Nell Hockaday was born in Selmer, TN to the late Carl Gresham and Zula Baker Gresham. She was united in marriage to George Hockaday on May 31, 1955, with whom she shared a loving life until his passing on August 8, 2001.

Sue devoted much of her working career to Walmart, though she also spent time employed at Brown Shoe Company and ITT in Corinth. She was member of Good Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed volunteering at McNairy County General Hospital.

Known for her easy-going nature and kind heart, she was happiest when caring for her family. She had a passion for traveling, especially with her husband on the many trips they took together. Over the years, she enjoyed a variety of hobbies, but what brought her the most joy was cooking for her family.

Mrs. Hockaday departed this life on August 19, 2025 in Corinth, MS at the age of 87 Years, 3 Months, 18 Days.

Sue is survived by her children: Michael E. Hockaday, Brenda Kilburn and husband Ricky all of Selmer, TN, Leigh Ann Keen and husband Kevin of Corinth, MS; six grandchildren: Josh Weaver of Corinth, MS, Christina Fowler and husband Hunter of Murfreesboro, TN, Laura Kilburn Foster and husband Jessy of Adamsville, TN, Nicky Kilburn and wife Emma of Germantown, TN, Jennifer Keen Belue and husband Austin of Red Bay, AL, and Mallie Keen and fiancé Billy Johnson of Corinth, MS; five great-grandchildren: Jack Fowler, Shaw Fowler, Finn Foster, Oakleigh Belue, and Legend Belue; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Jo Hockaday; a son, Robert Morris Hockaday; a brother, G. B. Gresham; and two sisters, Winnie Evelyn Osborn and Effie Richardson.
