SUMMER MAPLES

Finger, TN: Summer Nicole Maples, age 31, passed away September 10, 2026, at her home.

She was born, November 3, 1994, in Jackson, TN, the daughter of Sandra Hickman Maples and the late Thomas Kenneth Maples. She grew up in Finger and attended Christian Life Academy and then Chester County High School and graduated 2013.

She loved children and wanted to be a pediatrician; she did volunteer work at Jackson Madison County General Hospital as a teenager. She could not achieve her goal as a pediatrician, due to a brain tumor while in High School.

She loved to write and to keep journals, she enjoyed doing research, shopping and being in the water, (a real water bug), she also loved animals and had many pets.

She was a beautiful person inside and out and was an inspiration to many.

She was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, and her faith sustained her and gave her a special peace until the very end of her life.

Summer is survived by her mother, Sandra Diane Hickman Maples of Finger; maternal grandmother, Ella Mae Wamble of Finger, paternal grandmother Barbara Ann Maples of Jackson; a brother, Hunter Thomas Maples of Selmer, niece Annslee Kate Maples a nephew, Jere Thomas Maples and aunts, Patty Armstrong (Jerry) of Humboldt and Patty Young (Von) Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her father Thomas Kenneth Maples, grandfathers Jere Neal Wamble, Kenneth Maples and William L. Hickman.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue, with Pastor Johnny Bullman officiating, burial will follow at Old Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday.
