Susan "Suzi" Counce Bevis was born on September 25, 1954, in Fort Benning, Georgia to Ida Jean Shelby Counce and Marvin Earl Counce (Josh). The first seven years she was raised at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. Then she was moved to Savannah, then to Fort McClelan, Alabama, Fort Bliss, Texas and back to Savannah. Susan graduated in 1972 from Central High School in Hardin County, Tennessee. She had worked for Garan Manufacturing in Adamsville, Tennessee, ITT in Corinth, Mississippi, Food World in Whitesburg, Kentucky, and Shiloh Foods in Savannah, Tennessee. Susan had worked for 29 years before becoming disabled.
On March 5, 1981, she was united in marriage to Aaron Lynn Bevis, who survives. Susan got a bonus and was step mother to Angela Dawn Bevis. They lost Angie on April 10, 1987 to a house fire. Because of her health issues she spent most of her time at home and would help take care of Aaron's parents. Susan loved her dogs and had several over the years. She enjoyed going to concerts, cruising, watching her soap operas and other tv shows. Susan loved the computer, reading the news and getting on Facebook. She was a member of Savannah Church of Christ.
Susan is survived by her husband, Aaron Lynn Bevis of Savannah, Tennessee; nephew, Jeremy Shane Burks; sister-in-law, Wanda White and her husband Shawn; nephews, Casey White, Joshua White and wife Morgan, and Stephen White; great nephew, Josh; great niece, Shelby; and a special sister-in-law, Paula Austin.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Josh and Ida Jean Counce; sister, Deborah Jane Counce; grandparents, Vera and James Marvin Counce of Counce, Tennessee and Bertha Daisy Shelby of Savannah, Tennessee; and her father and mother-in-laws, Junior and Thelma Bevis.
