Tab Hill

Tab Hill was born September 15, 1910 in McNairy County, Tennessee the son of the late Abraham and Sara Naomi Plunk Hill.



He was united in marriage to Hassie Surratt on October 26, 1934. Mrs. Hill preceded him in death on July 18, 2001, after 66 years of marriage.



Mr. Hill attended school and played baseball in the Purdy Community. He was a truck driver and salvage dealer, and was known far and wide as "the hub-cap man." Mr. Hill loved his church and gospel singing, and served as President of the McNairy County Gospel Singing Association for approximately 40 years. He was a member of the Friendship Pentecostal Church in Bethel Springs, Tennessee.



Mr. Hill departed this life on November 11, 2009 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 99 Years, 1 Month, 27 Days. He is survived by a daughter, Martha Gibbs and husband Fay of Adamsville, TN; two sons, Jerry Hill and wife Wrenetta of Jefferson, AR and Kenneth Hill and wife Brenda of Bethel Springs, TN; seven grandchildren: Terry Sue Blancq, Lisa Coleman, Angie Ingle, Mitzi Hill, Kelly Fowler, Tammy Symond, and Donna Howard; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.



In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Hill was preceded in death by a son, Paul Edward Hill; three sisters: Zanie Garner, Romie Halstead, and Geneva Hawkins; and five brothers: Major Hill, Sam Hill, Sherman Hill, George Hill, and Mark Hill.
