Terry Wayne Hampton, age 83, passed away on January 20th, 2026. He was born on September 14th 1942, and lived in Camden, Tennessee.

Terry was known for his gentle spirit, warm smile, and generous heart. He had a way of making people feel seen and valued, always speaking peacefully and looking directly into their eyes to ensure they were truly heard. He was a handsome man whose kindness and calm presence left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He enjoyed many things in life, including gardening flowers and vegetables, shopping, fishing, and especially cooking and baking, often sharing what he made with others. One of his most remarkable gifts was his incredible singing voice. Without music or accompaniment, Terry’s voice alone would captivate listeners, leaving many in awe.

Education was one of Terry’s greatest passions. He taught Sunday School, served as a teacher at Frank Hughes High School, later taught at Wayne County Middle School, and was eventually promoted to Principal. He was highly intelligent, wise, and gentle, earning deep respect from students, colleagues, and the community.

Terry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane Carroll Yeiser Hampton, and by four siblings—Jack, Joe, Katie, and Wanda. He is survived by his sister, Annette Grimble.

He was a proud father to his sons and took great joy in his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Terry’s best friend, Jerry Harper, cared for him during his final stages of life. Terry Wayne Hampton will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm service time at Hopewell Baptist Church in Savannah, TN.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Hopewell Baptist Church with burial to follow in Philadelphia Cemetery in Waynesboro, TN.
