Pastor Terry Wayne Martin, age 78, went home to be with his Lord on October 3, 2014. Beloved husband for 62 years of Jimmie N. Martin (Hollin); Dearly loved father of Cathie Wheeler, and Marsha (Charles) Foshee; Cherished grandfather of Victoria (Andre’) Nguyen, Allen Foshee, Kyle Wheeler, and Katelin Wheeler; great-grandfather of Kaylie, Evan, and Anna Grace Nguyen; Also survived by his beloved adopted family Rosie, J.D., C.J., and Melissa;Loving son of the late Lee Andrew Martin and the late Mary Odie Pugh Martin; brother of Garmila Edgar, Waymon Barbara, Ralph Martin, Vonah Wood, Hugh Martin, Cornitha Andrews, Retha Fanning, and the late Robert Martin, the late Christine Parsons, and the late Harley Martin; Dear uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Rev. Martin was a retired 30 year employee of General Motors BOC Division (Fisher Body), and Pastor of Jesus Name Pentecostal Church in Hickory Hills for 45 years. Pastor Martin will be remembered by his family and friends for being a devoted husband, proud father and loving family man, possessing a strong faith in the God he loved and served. He had a great love for youth and children both at home and abroad taking several Mission trips to the Philippines to establish a church and care for orphans. His life touched the hearts of many and He will be greatly missed by all.
A funeral was held at Jesus Name Pentecostal Church in Hickory Hills, IL on Saturday, October 4th.
Locally, Visitation will be Tuesday, October 7th, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Shackelford-Johnson Chapel. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, at Johnson Chapel with burial to follow in Milledgeville Cemetery at Milledgeville, TN, Shackelford Funeral Directors - Johnson Chapel in charge of local arrangements.
