Terry Albert Skillern Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry Albert Skillern Sr., age 76, of Collinwood, TN, who departed from this life on January 13, 2026. He was born on April 3, 1949, in the close-knit community of Collinwood, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Lorene Hollis Skillern.

Terry was united in loving marriage to Kathy D. Brewer on July 13, 1968, building a life together filled with joy and cherished memories. He dedicated many years to his career at Murray Ohio Manufacturing Company, where he made lasting friendships that reflected his warm-hearted nature.

A gifted gunsmith, Terry had a passion that resonated deeply throughout his life. His expertise and enthusiasm in this craft brought him recognition and respect. He also held membership in the David Crockett Long Hunter Club, further expressing his love for the outdoors and heritage.Beyond his hobbies, Terry was a true historian at heart. He spent countless hours immersed in the study of history, particularly the Civil War and genealogy, always eager to expand his knowledge and share stories that connected the past to the present.

Terry's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. We celebrate a life well-lived, filled with passion, love, and an insatiable curiosity about the world around him. He will be greatly missed but fondly remembered for his kind spirit and the impact he made in the lives of those he touched.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathy D. Brewer Skillern of Collinwood, TN; son, Terry Albert Skillern Jr. of Collinwood, TN; daughters, Shannon Skillern of Franklin, TN and Tammy Erdmann (Michel) of Kelso, WA; brothers, Jeffery Skillern (Becky) of Iron City, TN and Kenny Skillern (Doris) of Lutts, TN; sister, Patricia Bennedict of Collinwood, TN; grandchildren, Matthew Kimrey, Madison Kimrey, and Caitlin Erdmann; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death to his brother, Ted Skillern; sister, Frances Wooten; and granddaughter, Cheyenne Skillern.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 12:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN with Greg Eaton officiating.
