THELMA “JO “ STANSELL MCCLURE
Jackson, TN: Thelma Mae Stansell McClure age 87 passed away February 29, 2016 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born February 12, 1929 in Chester County, the daughter of the late Brodie R. and Bessie Clayton Stansell. She attended schools in Chester County and in 1946 married Charles Stoots, Jr. They made their home in Brownsville and Henderson. She was later married to Jerry McClure in 1983. They made their home in Bemis and they owned and operated the Fox Restaurant from 1984 until 1995. Mr. McClure passed away in 2007.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Bemis.
Mrs. McClure is survived by two sons, Ronnie Stoots and Charles Stoots both of Brownsville; one daughter, Linda Laurell and husband Pete of San Leon, TX; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Stansell of New Mexico and one sister, Christine Langford of Henderson.
A special thanks to Denise Kinchen, Phyllis Frye, Andrea Moore and Tanya Campbell for their care and concern for Thelma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry McClure; one daughter, Barbara Haggard in 2004, two brothers, Richie Stansell and Wayne Stansell and two sisters, Kathy Ward and Brodine Frye.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Bro. Bobby Langford officiating. Burial will follow in Old Estes Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday.
