Mr. Haley died Thursday, September 2 at Pine Meadows Healthcare Center in Bolivar.
The widower of Norma Jean Colson Haley, who died on August 29, 2002 after almost 46 years of marriage, he was retired as a data processor with MLG&W and lived in Memphis until 1990, at which point he moved to Fayette County. He was born November 14, 1930, in Yorkville, son of the late Thomas Richard Haley and Madolyn Williams Haley and served in the US Army from 1954-56. In earlier years, he thoroughly enjoyed training and showing Racking horses, traveling with his entire family to many shows all over the south. Mr. Haley was a member of Somerville Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Melinda and Tommy Thompson of Greenbrier, Tenn., Karen and Steve Hjerpe of Oakland; two sons and their wives, Paul and Susan Haley of Tuscumbia, Ala., Tharen and Claire Haley of Bolivar; a sister and her husband, Carolyn and Duane Alsup of Macon, Miss.; six grandchildren, Lesleigh & Jason Albritton, Lauren and Matthew Martin, Wesley Austin Pruett, Stuart and Forrest Haley and Haley Hjerpe; and three great grandchildren, Jack and Caleb Martin and Bayleigh Albritton.
