Thomas Arlen (Tom) Holt of Florence, AL, was born June 23, 1954 in Waynesboro, TN, the son of the late Aaron Thomas Holt and Walsie Gwendolyn Brison Holt Pulley. He was united in marriage to Peggy Jean Gobble on February 24, 1973.
Mr. Holt was a Supervisor/Production Worker for 30 years at Murray Ohio Manufacturing in Lawrenceburg, TN and was a Christian and member of Millrock Freewill Baptist Church, Collinwood, Tennessee where he was raised and lived 55 years before moving to Florence, AL 6 years ago.
Mr. Holt departed this life on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Center in Florence, Alabama at the age of 61 years, 4 months, 7 days.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Jean Gobble Holt of Florence, AL; his children, Andy Thomas Holt and wife, Rose Anna Cox Holt and their children, Aaron Thomas and Charles Joshua (CJ) Holt of Lutts, TN and Jennifer Leigh Holt Smith and husband, David Christopher Smith and their children, Isaiah Christopher and Spencer Alexander Smith of Florence, AL; brothers, Bobby Holt and wife, Ethel and Billy Holt and wife, Dean all of Cypress Inn, TN; a sister, Margaret Hammack and husband, Paul of Collinwood, TN and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Holt was preceded in death by his step-father, Albert Pulley; a step-brother, Larry Pulley and grandparents, Noah and Waymon Brison and William and Mattie Lee Holt.
Services will be Monday, November 2, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Stacey Holt and Tim Long officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Holt, Reg Holt, Randall Holt, Greg Daniel, Jeremy Daniel, Michael Gobble and Scottie Gobble. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Joshua (CJ) Holt, Isaiah Smith and Spencer Smith.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Monday, November 2, 2015 from 10 am until service time at the funeral home.
Tom was a avid country music fan and played and sang in local bands for many years. As a tribute to him and his love of music, various songs will be played in the funeral home chapel approximately 30 minutes before the service and a last ride through Collinwood will be shared with Tom and his family and those that want to participate in antique cars following the chapel service enroute to the gravesite.
