Thomas Johns

Mr. Thomas D. Johns, Sr. departed this life on Saturday, August 26, 2017at his residence in Lutts, Tennessee at the age of 83 Years, 8 Months, 29 Days.
He was born November 28, 1933 in Waynesboro, TN the son of the late DeWitt and May Magdelene Lomax Johns.

He was united in marriage to Olene Beecham on December 23, 1953.

Mr. Johns was retired from the United States Navy. He was a boiler technician and laborer and a member of Local 366. Mr. Johns was also a member of Collinwood Masonic Lodge 702, Stainless Lodge 580, Lexington York Rite, Florence Scottish Rite, Al Menah Shriners, Collinwood Order of Eastern Star 422, American Legion Post 11, Disabled American Veterans,Fleet Reserve, and Labor Local 366.

He is survived by his wife Olene Beecham Johns, son, Thomas D. Johns Jr. both of Lutts, TN., grandchildren, Thomas D. Johns III, wife Katherine D, Leah Elizabeth Wynoka Johns, numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Johns was preceded in death by daughter in law Angela, sisters, Mary Easlick, Annie Carlene Timme, brothers, Bobby Lee Johns and Malcolm David Johns.

Services will be held on August 30, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home, in Collinwood, Tennessee, with Chad Balentine officiating. Masonic rites will be given at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers are Thomas Johns, III, John Dial, Jeremiah Stults, Greg McFall, Charles Beecham, Keith Johns, Larry Taylor,and Kyle Franklin, honorary pallbearers are members of Collinwood 702, and other masonic brothers, Collinwood Order of Eastern Star 422 members, cousins, brothers in law, nephews, neighbors, and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 - 9:00 PM and Wednesday from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home. Family requests in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to TN Quality Hospice or the Collinwood Masonic Scholarship Fund.
