Thomas Fulton Robertson, age 93 of Bolivar, went home to his Lord and Savior on October 23 at Pleasant View Health Care in Bolivar.
He was born June 9, 1918, the son of Nolie Adams Roberston and Emma Belle Young Robertson of Vanleer. He was a retired Director of Missions for Hardeman County Baptist Association where he ministered to churches from 1961 until his retirement in 1985. He received his education in the public schools of Dickson County and was a 1948 graduate of Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He continued his studies at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Forth Worth, Texas. He was ordained to the ministry by Emmanuel Baptist Church in Waco in 1950. From 1942 until 1946 during World War II, he served in the Army Air Force and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. Until his illness he was an active member and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church, Bolivar, where he enjoyed participating in the Golden Sounds Choir and Senior Adults' group. He also served as a volunteer chaplain at Bolivar General Hospital and was an active participant in the Hardeman County Ministerial Association and the Hardeman County Jail Ministry.
Services to celebrate his life are 1:00 pm, Monday, October 24, 2011 at Shackelford's Chapel with interment in Bolivar Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Patty Plunk Robertson of Bolivar; his daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Jake Baker of Bolivar; his grandson, Brad Atkinson of Huntsville, Alabama; his sister, Mary Lee Loggins of Charlotte, Tennessee; his step-daughters, Dianna Smith and Patrice Grantham; his step-son, Charles Plunk; his former step-son, Richard H. Reynolds, 5 step-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-grandchildren, all of Bolivar. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Fulton Robertson, Jr. in 1969; his step-daughter, Maria Reynolds in 1998; his first wife of 2 years, Margaret K. Robertson in 1943, his second wife of 42 years, Emogene Tosh Robertson in 1989; and his third wife of 11 years, Eloise Reynolds Robertson in 2001.
