Vandiver
February 12, 1954 – February 2, 2026
Thomas Vandiver, a dedicated educator and contractor, passed away on February 2, 2026, in his beloved hometown of Bolivar, Tennessee. Born on February 12, 1954, he devoted his life to not only his career but also to his family, community, and the interests that brought him joy.
With a Masters of Education from the University of Memphis, Thomas significantly impacted many lives as a teacher at Bolivar Central High School and Middleton High School. His passion for education was matched by his work as a contractor, where he shared his skills and knowledge with those around him. Thomas was also an active member of the Bolivar Civitan Club, where he continued to support his community with enthusiasm and commitment.
In addition to his professional achievements, Thomas was known for his love of lighthouses and enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and engaging in woodcraft. Music also played a significant role in his life, particularly his fondness for old country tunes. Above all, his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren—Riley Seaton, Katie Booth (Bradley), Owen, Sara, Rachel, Phoebe and Thomas Vandiver. These relationships were a source of immense happiness for him and a testament to his deep love for family and includes his dog "Holly".
Thomas proudly served in the Tennessee National Guard for six years, a commitment that reflected his dedication to serving others.
He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Ann Vandiver; his daughter Stacy (Eric) Seaton; his son Stephen (Rebekah) Vandiver; his brothers Donald (Caroline) and Ronald (Renee) Vandiver; and his grandchildren, who will forever cherish the memories they made with him. He was preceded in death by his father, James Thomas Vandiver, and his mother, Georgia Lucille Grantham Vandiver.
