Mr. Thomas Ward, age 91 of Bethel Springs, Tennessee, passed away Sunday night, May 22, 2016 at Tennova Healthcare - Regional Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Mr. Ward was born Sunday, September 7, 1924 in Ripley, Tennessee to the late Thomas and Lily Ward. On July 31, 1954, he was united in marriage to Colleen Ward, who preceded him in death June 3, 2007.
He worked as a Yard Master for Frisco Railroad, formerly known as BN Railroad, and retired after 40 years of service. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a Mason. His family describes him as a "Jack of all trades", and he enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping and making watches. He moved to the area in 1985 and spent the last several years in Bethel Springs.
Survivors include his daughter, Wanda King and husband Greg of Bethel Springs; son, Jerry Havlik and wife Rachel of Linden; grandchildren, Jessica Matthews of Henderson, Sonya Smith of Memphis, Tabrina Pollan of Memphis, Jeremy Havlik of Memphis, Heidi Havlik of Linden, David King of Henderson and Jennifer King of Medina; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
