Tobie Jimmy Spears of Cypress Inn, TN was born July 12, 1933 in Wayne Co., Tennessee, the son of the late Robert (Bob) Spears and Merle Gillis Morrow. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Kaye Jones.
Mr. Spears was a retired truck driver with Chem-Haulers. He was a member of the Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Cypress Inn, Tennessee and had served during the Korean War in the United States Army.
Mr. Spears departed this life on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 78 Years, 1 Month, 28 Days.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Kaye Jones Spears of Cypress Inn, TN; sons, Jimmy Spears and wife, Ann of Dalton, OH, Bobby Spears and wife, Kim of Waterloo, AL; daughter, Marilyn Nichols and husband, Lawrence of Spring Valley, AL; stepsons, Gary Hill and wife, Myra and Glenn Hill and wife, Becky all of Killen, AL, Brian Keith Watkins of Shiloh, TN, Nicholas Adam Watkins of US Army; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Willie Horton and wife, Fredia of Coleman, TX, Marvin Morrow and wife, Connie of Cypress Inn, TN; sisters, Emma Henderson and husband, Doug of Middleton, TN, Wilton Brown and husband, Delbert of Florence, AL; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Spears was preceded in death by his step-father, Ernest Morrow and a brother, Fred Morrow.
Services will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 1:30 PM at Cromwell Crossroads Church, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Joe Risner and Keith Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Cemetery, Cypress Inn, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro, TN, directing. Pallbearers will be Red Marbutt, Paul Horton, John David Sherrill, Darrell Patterson, Wendell Horton, Earl Rich, Marion Rich, Howard Brewer and honorary pallbearer will be Luke Patterson.
