Obituary

Tom Hardin, age 69, tuned out of this earthly broadcast on June 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy as colorful, loud, and unforgettable as a classic rock anthem. Born on September 1, 1956, in Corinth, Mississippi, to Thomas Nelson Hardin Sr. and Nina Sue Stephenson Hardin, he spent his life operating on his own frequency. Armed with a legendary, velvet "radio voice" that captivated listeners, Tom spent many years as a prominent disc jockey at a radio station in Mobile, Alabama. His career placed him near countless celebrity rock stars, providing him with a lifetime of wild stories that he loved to share with anyone who would listen. Later in life, he transitioned into security work, bringing that same larger-than-life presence to protecting others.

Tom was a man of diverse passions and an incredibly generous, if unconventional, spirit. He was a talented cook whose finest culinary hour came in the chaotic aftermath of a hurricane, when he walked into a local Waffle House, took over the grill, and fed all in need. He was a collector of epic proportions, a self-proclaimed hoarder who amassed a treasure trove of items, including a massive collection of over 300 walking sticks. Tom also had a deep, lifelong appreciation for the ladies; he was a true romantic at heart who loved the company of women, collected many girlfriends over the years, and lived life as a charming, eternal bachelor. Beneath his rock-and-roll exterior, Tom was deeply spiritual and loved discussing religion. He spent hours engaged in philosophical debates and deep conversations with a close Buddhist friend, always searching for the deeper meaning in life.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Sr. and Nina Sue Hardin. His memory, his booming voice, and his incredible stories will live on through his surviving family: his son, Andy Hardin of Selmer, TN; his daughter, Laura Maness and her wife Michelle of Medon, TN; his aunt, Linda Alderson; and his step-grandmother, Bobbie Hardin. Tom lived life on his own terms, played by his own rules, and has finally signed off the air for his next great adventure.
