Travis Mackey Morris

Travis Morris departed this life on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at the age of 103 years, 10 months, 13 days. He was born on September 15, 1911, the son of the late Albert E. and Perlie Allen Morris. On January 8, 1936, he was united in marriage to Ora Evelyn McBride, who preceded him in death on October 7, 1997.

Travis graduated from Freed Hardeman College. He taught grades 1-8 in a one room school house in Hurricane, Tennessee, where he also coached basketball. He had also worked for TVA, Brown Shoe Company, and was a manager for Dollar General. He was a member of the Adamsville Church of Christ, where he served as deacon for many years, and was a past member of the Lions Club.

Travis is survived by a son, Billy N. Morris; daughter, Loretta Morris Hamm and husband, Bobby; grandchildren, Eddie Morris and wife, Lori, Benji Morris and wife, Tammi, Tammy Bauer and husband, Brian, Kimberly Klausing and friend, Rusty, Kenny Hamm and wife, Candi, Kelly Hamm and wife, Gina; 13 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; nephew, Tommy Willis and wife, Judith; 3 great nieces and one great-nephew.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mackey E. Morris; sister, Clyde Perlina Morris Willis; grandchild, Gina Lynn Morris; great-grandchild, Kassidy Nicole Hamm; daughters-in-law, Glenda Morris and Brenda Morris.
