Henderson, TN: Miss Martha Velma Carter age 94, passed away August 1, 2011 at the Chester County Healthcare.
She was born in the Grove Springs Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late Atkins and Minnie Lois Smith Carter. She attended school at Grove Springs and Henderson. She worked in the family grocery, Carter Grocery on front street in Henderson most of her life except for 12 years she lived in Memphis. She retired in 1979 when the family closed the store. She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
She is survived by a sister, Gladys Colbert of Henderson; six nieces and three nephews.
