Vera Gladys Gann Rose, age 90, departed this life for heaven on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Dominion Senior Living of Johnson City, Tennessee, after a short illness.
Gladys was born in Cerro Gordo, Tennessee, on February 5, 1926 to Tom and Mary Stanfield Gann. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Rose Jr, her son, Clark Allen Rose, and her brother, Loy Gipson Gann.
She was raised in Saltillo, Tennessee and attended school there and in Savannah, Tennessee. After her marriage to Junior Rose, she spent more than 70 years on their farm on Hardins Creek. She retired from Clifton Manufacturing but she never retired from working on the farm or gardening. Her reputation as a seamstress, master gardener, and the best cook around is well-known among many friends and her family. If you were fortunate enough to have any of her recipes, you were blessed. She considered her work her hobby, and she did it all excellently. Gladys loved cook-outs, family reunions, holiday dinners, the Masonic ham breakfast events, and her family and friends
She was a member of Mt. Carmel Methodist Church where she played the piano for several years; the Clifton Order of the Eastern Star #355 where she served as Worthy
Matron, and the Riverbend Cloggers.
Gladys is survived by her grandson, Clark Allen Rose II and Christie of Franklin; granddaughter, Kristina Rose Bragg and husband Johnny Bragg , two great grandchildren, John Richardson Bragg, III and Katherine Rose Bragg all of Johnson City; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Collie Rose of Clifton; her sister-in-law, Cordia Mae Gann, of Savannah, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Clyde Carroll, Donnie Hosea, and Jason Collie.

A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Mt. Carmel Methodist Church with Tony Polk officiating. Visitation at 11-1 at the church. Graveside burial to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to Providence Academy Scholarship Fund, 2788 Carroll Creek Rd., Johnson City, TN 37615. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Waynesboro in charge of arrangements.
