Mrs. Virgie Morphis of Pocahontas went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 26 days.
Mrs. Morphis was born in Marigold, Mississippi on October 5, 1935 to the late Otis Newton and Beatrice Miles Bouler. On June 1, 1957 she was united in marriage to Mr. Radye Morphis, who survives.
A 1954 graduate of Linn High School in Sunflower County, Mississippi, she lived in the Memphis/Cordova area for about 50 years before moving to Pocahontas 10 years ago. She worked as an office nurse in the medical field for most of her life and loved gardening, reading, sewing as her hobbies. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pocahontas where she was very involved in all aspects, including Bible study and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Morphis leaves as her survivors, her husband, Radye Morphis of Pocahontas; two daughters, Susanne Van Dyke and husband Pat of Clarksville, and Lorrie Mullen and husband Scott of Hickory Withe; two sons, Russell Morphis and wife Pamela of Houston, Texas, and Brian Morphis and wife Renee of Cordova; a sister, Sallie Kirkland of Williston; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
