Virgie Newton Deming

Virgie Newton Deming, born on May 25, 1935, in Ashland, Mississippi, entered eternal rest on November 19, 2025, at the Mississippi Care Center in Corinth, Mississippi. She was a vibrant spirit whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many.

Virgie dedicated 19 years of her life as a foreman at Reichold Chemicals, where her leadership and dedication were evident to all who worked with her. Despite her career, she also attended Saulsbury School.

A devoted member of Saulsbury Baptist Church, Virgie found strength and community in her faith. She had a passion for life that was reflected in her love for horseback riding and her joyful adventures rescuing plants alongside her best friend, Lovie Allen. Virgie enjoyed traveling and exploring new places, crafting memories that will forever be cherished by those close to her.

Virgie will be dearly remembered by her loving family. She is survived by her daughters, Angela Newton of Saulsbury, Jeannie Newton McQueen and Tommy of Pocahontas, and Chatty Daniel and John of Walnut; her son, Timothy Newton of Saulsbury; and her stepchildren, Tracye Simmons of Somerville and Chris Deming of Hickory Valley. Her sisters, Mary Pearl White of Rogers Springs, Minnie Stevens of Corinth, MS, Mamie White of Arlington, and Dorothy Fredrick of Chewalla, along with her brothers, David Sides of Eastview and Johnny Sides of Henderson, KY, will carry forward her memory.

Virgie was a proud grandmother to Joe and Carrie Marcum, Jonathan and Josh Yopp, Molly Street, Luke, Austin and Will Daniel, Logan and Loren Newton, and Lexie Broyles. She also leaves behind 5 step-grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, who will all remember her for her unwavering love and support.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Newton in 1984,and her second husband, Tommy Deming in 2018, parents, Red and Emma Sanders Sides; brothers, Bill, Bo, and Eddie Sides; sisters, Louise Jones and Betty Lou Thomas; and her beloved granddaughter, Leslie Deming Roberts and a stepson, Brad Deming.

A visitation in honor of Virgie will be held on November 22, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar, TN. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, culminating in her interment at Saulsbury Cemetery.

Virgie Newton Deming leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and laughter, and her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.  Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to Saulsbury Baptist Church.
