Virgil Hopper departed this life on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at the age of 69 years, 6 months, and 12 days. He was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on July 10, 1947, the son of the late John Lewis and Annie Jewel Banks Hopper. On September 13, 1991, he was united in marriage to Janie Deshazier, who survives.
Virgil had worked for Hardin County Convenience Center for about a year and had previously worked for Hopper's Roofing for over 30 years. He loved fishing and watching wrestling and westerns.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jane Hopper of Savannah, Tennessee; daughters, Shelia Hopper and Katey Ann Deshazier, both of Savannah, Tennessee; sons, Randy Hopper of Counce, Tennessee, Tim Hopper of Savannah, Tennessee, and Chris Hopper of Only, Tennessee; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Pauline Franks, Gertie Taylor, Josephine Hopper, and Linda Gail Davis, all of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lorene Murphy; and brothers, J.D. Hopper and Jimmy Hopper.
