Virginia Karen Coon
was born in Warsaw, Indiana on September 9, 1938 the daughter of
the late William Paul and Mary Alice McConnell Dill.
Virginia was united in marriage to James W. Jobe, II on August 2,
1963, he preceded her in death on March 1, 1971. She married her
second husband, George M. Coon on September 11, 1972, he
preceded her in death on June 22, 2003.
In her youth, Virginia was a member of the Wabash St. United
Methodist Church in Wabash, Indiana. While in Savannah, she
would attend church at the HMC Health and Rehab when she was
able. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Wabash,
Indiana and held an office with them. Virginia was retired but did
several jobs in her lifetime: telephone operator for General
Telephone in Wabash, Indiana, which later became AT&T; sewed
canvas tarps and medical wraps in Andrews, Indiana; restaurant
manager for the Steer Inn in Silverlake, Indiana; seamstress (set
sleeves) for Garan Manufacturing in Adamsville, Tennessee.
Virginia loved fishing, camping and boating in her prime years. She
loved baseball, football and was a NASCAR fan. She enjoyed
telling family and friends stories of when she was growing up.
Virginia never forgot a birthday of family and friends, and she would
always send a card. In June of 2005, she became a resident of HMC
Health and Rehab, where she would crochet to help with
fundraisers, baby showers, for gifts, and to make a little money to
purchase gifts for her family. During her stay at the nursing home
she became the President of the Resident Council. She loved
helping others anyway she could. We were blessed with her as a
mother. A born again Christian, baptized March 29, 1953, who
loved the Lord, I know she is in heaven now rejoicing.
