VIRGINIA ‘JENNY’ COX
Henderson, TN: Virginia Pearl Ligon Cox age 85 passed away November 13, 2020 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born October 10, 1935 in Chester County in the Chickasaw Community, the daughter of the late Robert Edward Lee Ligon and Mozella Ann Newman Ligon Malone. She graduated from Chester County High School and West Tennessee Business School. She married Ural Haskle Cox on July 8, 1956. They made their home on Sand Avenue. Mr. Cox worked his career with Southwest Electric and Mrs. Cox was a homemaker. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and truly an angel here on earth.
She loved her family and working in her flowers. She always saw the best in everybody.
Mrs. Cox is survived by her husband, Haskle Cox and two daughters, Connie Austin (Tommy) and Kim Barton (Darin) all of Henderson; five grandchildren, Tracie Terry, Blair Austin, Brett Austin, Bradley Barton and John Barton; six great grandchildren; a brother, Robert E. Ligon of Columbus, GA and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Cox.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Terry Cox on December 19, 2019 and three sisters, Ann Dodd, Dorothy Cupples and Betty Sheffield.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Wade Cox and Bro. Stan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Sunday.
