Virginia Tidwell Crump, a cherished wife, mother, and devoted member of the Bolivar Church of Christ, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at Bolivar General Hospital. Born on February 12, 1941, in Stantonville, Tennessee, Virginia was a lifelong Tennesseean who carried with her the spirit and warmth of her hometown throughout her life.
Virginia’s early years were spent in Stantonville before she moved to Bolivar in 1964, where she would build a meaningful life and career. On October 6, 1966, she married William Ermon Crump, with whom she shared over five decades of partnership and love. Virginia's dedication to her family was evident to all who knew her, and she is lovingly remembered by her husband William, their son Will Crump, cousin Ann Senseman, nephews Jammy Harbin and his wife Crystal, and nieces Debby Overstreet, Cheryl Butler, and Ann Marie Dunahoo.
Her professional journey was marked by dedication and versatility. Virginia contributed her talents to the Bolivar Bulletin, the Bank of Bolivar, and Master Slack. She later served the Hardeman County Board of Education for nine and a half years, where her commitment to education and the community left a lasting impact.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Newman Tidwell and Jamie Kathleen Campbell Tidwell; two sisters, Ellouise Tidwell and Rose Brown; and her brothers Charles, Elmo, and Ralph Tidwell. These family bonds shaped her, and her memory remains a treasured link to her heritage.
A visitation to honor and remember Virginia will be held on June 11, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Bolivar Church of Christ, located at 1018 West Market Street in Bolivar, Tennessee. This will be followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, continuing until 2:00 PM at the same location. Interment will take place at Stantonville Cemetery, 8032 SR-142, Stantonville, Tennessee, beginning at 2:30 PM.
Virginia’s life story is one of commitment—to family, to her faith, and to her community. Her legacy of kindness, hard work, and dedication will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed, but forever honored in the hearts of her family and community.
