Virginia Goodwin departed this life on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at the age of 84 years, 9 months, and 19 days. She was born in Missouri on October 26, 1936, the daughter of the late Iven Washington White and Nona Pyron White.
Virginia went to Michie School and later went to work for Saint Joseph Hospital in Memphis, where she met John William Goodwin. They were married on July 27, 1958, and later moved to Shiloh, Tennessee, where she raised her family and created a life she loved.
Virginia loved God, loved her church, Landmark United Pentecostal Church, and loved her family. She enjoyed walking, shopping, and traveling - especially to the Smoky Mountains. Virginia was always willing to lend a helping hand to her church and community, and was well known for her peanut brittle.
She is survived by her children, Donna Curtis of Shiloh, Tennessee, Cynthia May and husband Jim of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Mitch Goodwin and his wife Vickie of Medina, Tennessee, and Jacqueline Hamm and her husband Jackie of Adamsville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Rebekah Shook, Jessica Curtis, Kimberly Wood, Jennifer Burks and husband Blair, Alan Wood and wife Anne, Lauren Williams and husband Nathan, Amanda Bechtel, and Jon Micheal Goodwin and wife Ashlyn; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Oberia Sowell of Michie, Tennessee; and brothers, Rayborn White of Decaturville, Tennessee, Rodger White of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and Phillip White of Dallas, Texas.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, John Goodwin on August 30, 2019, sisters, Ellen Cooksey, Omega Sweat, and Ruth Tucker, Marie Byrd; and brothers, Jake White, Ray White, J.W. White, Paul White, Jerrold Junior White, Bruce White, and Charles White.
