Virginia Muriel Pettigrew

Virginia Muriel Pettigrew departed this life on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at the age of 88 years, 3 months, and 3 days. She was born in the Walnut Grove Community of Hardin County, Tennessee on October 28, 1928, the daughter of the late William Barney and Edna Nora Lee Smith. In 1955, she was united in marriage to Joe Kent Pettigrew, who preceded her in death July 1996.

Virginia retired from Hunter Fan Company in Memphis, Tennessee, where she had worked for 45 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Adamsville, Tennessee and the Home Demonstration Club in Stantonville, Tennessee. Virginia loved her church and was a very active member and she enjoyed traveling with her husband.

She is survived by her brothers, Sammie H. Smith of Stantonville, Tennessee and Derald K. Smith of Bolivar, Tennessee.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James David Smith, Melvin Sevier Smith, and Douglas Edward Smith; and sisters, Ethel Laurene Conaway and Mary Maxine Smith.
