Virginia Inez Stricklin, age 91, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026. Born on May 1, 1935, Virginia was the beloved daughter of Lonnie Sevier Tidwell and Mattie Lee Fox Tidwell. She lived a long and meaningful life centered on faith, family, and love.
On December 21, 1952, Virginia married the love of her life, Edward Earl Stricklin, who preceded her in death. Together they built a strong foundation for their family and shared a life marked by devotion, hard work, and commitment to those they loved. Virginia was known for her warm heart, loud voice, and deep devotion to her family. She especially loved cooking, and her home was a place where everyone felt welcome. Her Thursday night suppers became a family tradition, where she prepared meals for her entire family to gather around the table. Those evenings were filled with laughter, conversation, and togetherness, and they created memories that will be treasured for generations. She also loved babysitting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always offering patience, comfort, and unconditional love. Her caring nature left a lasting impact on every child and family member she nurtured.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Earl Stricklin; her parents, Lonnie Sevier Tidwell and Mattie Lee Fox Tidwell; and her beloved siblings, Lonnie Tidwell Jr., Yuvonne Tidwell, Wilma Hodge, James Carl Tidwell, Louise Tidwell, and Glen Tidwell and one grandchild, Andrea Stricklin.
She is survived by: her children, David Stricklin, Randy Stricklin, Vernie Stricklin, Roger Stricklin, Booter Stricklin, Becky Allen, and Darrell Stricklin, along with their families that include several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply and who brought great joy to her life.
Virginia’s legacy is one of faith, love, and family devotion. Though her passing leaves a great void, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, especially in the warmth of countless Thursday night suppers shared with family around her table. “Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.”
