Virginia Witherspoon

November 1, 1914 — March 2, 2009

Mrs. Witherspoon died Monday, March 2, 2009 at her home in Grand Junction.



A native of Middleton, she lived all her life in southern Hardeman County. She was the daughter of the late William Alexander and Etta Virginia Belote Rogers. On March 5, 1941, she married Ross Hewitt Witherspoon. He passed away June 28, 2007. Mrs. Witherspoon was a long-time member of the Grand Junction Church of Christ and was employed by the U. S. Postal Service for over 30 years. She served Grand Junction as postmaster for 16 years.



She is survived by her niece, Carolyn Taylor of Pocahontas; 4 great-nieces, Vickie Henson, Ann Burnette, Brenda Burnette and Resa Rush; and her special friend, Mary Nell Rinks.



In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Ethel Mae Harris of Bolivar and a brother, James Everett Roger of Lavernge, TN.
