Voneda Faye Howard, 97, peacefully left her earthly body on June 2, 2026/ She was born on December 20, 1928 to Casy (Punk) and Ethel Mae Wardlow in McNairy County, Tennessee. She married her loving husband, Elgin Howard on December 27, 1947.
As a teenager, Voneda sang on the radio and recorded records as a part of the 'Doc Whitaker Quartet'. They were a gospel group music group that recorded traditional spirituals and southern gospel. Thus her love of singing at church.
She went on to attend Draughon's Business College in Nashville after high school and worked for Adamsville Gas Company and eventually for East-West Motor Freight in Selmer.
She was a loving Mother, loved going to church, and traveling to the ocean and the mountains. And greatly enjoyed eating homemade fried fruit pies.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elgin, her son Kenneth; her parents Casy and Ethel Wardlow; her brother and sister, Willard Wardlow and Archie Chambers Thompson.
She leaves behind her daughter, Pamela Buckley (Mark); 4 grandsons, Tyler Buckley, Casey Buckley, Will Buckley, Kane Howard and 1 granddaughter,Brandie Howard. She also leaves 5 great grandchildren, Aabrea, Jagger, Kathryn, Allyson and Emmalyn and many extended family members.
She will be so missed by her family but she has gone home to be with her Lord.
She also has many beloved 'church friends' who will also miss her dearly.
