Wanda Lee York was born on May 18, 1950, in Selmer, Tennessee, to the late Vester Lee and Oleta Jewel Kirk McCullar.
She was united in marriage to J.T. York on June 14, 1968. They shared many wonderful years together until his passing on August 14, 2003.
A lifelong member of Antioch Church of Christ in Ramer, Wanda's faith was an important part of her life. She dedicated more than twenty years of service to the McNairy County Courthouse before becoming a self-employed title and property deed specialist. She was known for her knowledge, dependability, and willingness to help others.
Wanda embraced life to the fullest. She loved to travel, with Alaska holding a special place among her favorite destinations, and she especially looked forward to taking cruises. She also enjoyed spending quiet evenings reading or watching crime dramas, with Criminal Minds being her favorite. Blessed with many lifelong friends, Wanda treasured the monthly gatherings she shared with her high school classmates. Those friendships remained a source of joy throughout her life.
Above all else, Wanda's family was her greatest blessing. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she never missed an opportunity to support them, celebrate their accomplishments, or simply enjoy being together. Her love was constant, her encouragement unwavering, and the memories she created with her family will be cherished for generations to come.
Wanda York departed this life on June 30, 2026, in Corinth, Mississippi, at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 12 days.
She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Latimer and husband, Bruce, of Burns, Tennessee; her son, Kevin York of Selmer, Tennessee; her daughter-in-law, Priscilla Farris and husband, David, of Michie, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Steven York and wife, Kyra, of Ramer, Tennessee, Caleb Latimer of Burns, Tennessee, Hannah Latimer of Nashville, Tennessee, Jacob York of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Paige Farris of Michie, Tennessee, and Jaycee Farris of Michie, Tennessee; her great-grandson, John Logan York; her sister, Brenda Gill and husband, Kenneth, of Huntsville, Alabama; her sister-in-law, Theresa McCullar of Pocahontas, Tennessee; her nephew, Bryan Gill and his companion, Hannah, of Athens, Alabama; her niece, Denessa Mitchell and husband, Adam, of Selmer, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; many cherished extended family members; and a host of dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
In addition to her husband and parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis McCullar, and her beloved life partner, Jackie Farris.
Wanda will be remembered for her kind heart, adventurous spirit, enduring friendships, and, above all, the unconditional love she gave her family. Her life was a beautiful example of faith, devotion, and genuine kindness, and her memory will continue to be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Wanda's memory to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
