Waylon Ferge, beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on July 26, 2026, in Somerville, Tennessee, the town that had always been his home. Born on January 9, 1971, Waylon’s life was one filled with warmth, laughter, and a spirit that touched everyone he met.

A lifelong resident of Somerville, Waylon graduated from Fayette Academy in 1989, forging friendships and memories that would become the foundation of a life rooted in community. Known for his big personality and the radiant energy he brought into every room, Waylon was the kind of person whose presence could brighten even the darkest day. Friends and family will recall, with deep affection, his generous heart—he truly would give anyone the shirt off his back.

Waylon’s career path was marked by dedication and hard work, a reflection of the steadfast determination he carried throughout his life. He served as a truck driver for several respected companies, including R&L Carriers, Estes Freight, and Perry Wilson Trucking. His commitment and leadership were recognized in 2024 when he returned to R&L Carriers as a transportation manager, a role he undertook with pride and distinction.

Beyond his work, Waylon’s passions were many and varied. His love for NASCAR and Alabama Football was legendary among those who knew him best, and his enthusiasm was infectious on race days or game nights. A civil war historian at heart, Waylon’s keen intellect and curious mind led him to read and share stories about the past, always eager to discuss and debate with anyone willing to listen. He had an impressive talent for quoting any movie made since 1980—often leaving loved ones laughing, shaking their heads, or marveling at his uncanny recall.

Waylon’s roots ran deep in his faith and community as a devoted member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where his voice and spirit were a welcome presence among fellow congregants. He found meaning and joy in service and fellowship, always seeking to give back in ways both big and small.

While the world feels dimmer in his absence, Waylon’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who survive him: his brothers, Joey Ferge and Brian Ferge (Jamie), Madison (niece), Jaxson (nephew), Bailee (niece), Mason (nephew), Logan (nephew), Ethan (nephew), Kennedy (niece), Jack (nephew), and Parker (great niece). Each carries forward his memory, spirit, and lessons learned through his example of kindness and generosity.

Waylon joins in eternal rest his beloved parents, Donald Ferge and Simone Voyles Ferge. The love and devotion they shared as a family was unmistakable, and their reunion brings a measure of comfort in this time of loss.
