Wayne H. Brooks was born November 23, 1938 in Jackson, Tennessee the son of the late Alvin and Lois Hayes Brooks.
He was united in marriage to Gayle Miller on June 28, 1958.
Mr. Brooks was a graduate of Bethel Springs High School. When he was young, he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and always maintained his Baptist faith. He was the former manager of Funland Arena in Selmer, and spent a great part of his working life in sales for United Family Life, Henco, and other enterprises. He had also worked for the Independent Appeal, and his last employment was with Jones Exhaust in Adamsville. In his free time, he enjoyed trading and collecting all sorts of items, and had served as president of the Selmer Little League Baseball Program when his children were young. Mr. Brooks had also served his country in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Brooks departed this life on April 14, 2011 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 72 Years, 4 Months, 22 Days. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gayle Miller Brooks of Selmer, TN; two daughters, Regina Brooks of Mabelvale, AR and Susan Whitaker and husband Glen (Duke) Whitaker of Selmer, TN; a son, Mike Brooks and wife Kathy of Elkton, TN; six grandchildren: Samantha Brooks, Lindsey Jo Brooks, Erik Ryan Brooks, Derrick Hayes Brooks, Brian Brooks, Steven Whitaker; a sister, Sheilah Muse and husband Jimmy of Orlando, FL; three nephews: Danny, Wayne, and Josh Muse; and many extended family and friends.
