W.D. Vandiver

Mr. W. D. “Bill” Vandiver of Brownfield, Mississippi departed this life at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 18 days Monday morning, May 28, 2012 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.



He was born in Hornsby, Tennessee September 10, 1931 to the late Aubrey Martin and Gracie Emogene Sanders Vandiver. He worked as the owner and operator of Vandiver Sawmill and was a member of the National Hardwood Lumber Association. Having lived all his life in the Hardeman County/Tippah County area, he was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Bolivar and also attended Christ Temple Apostolic Church. He was united in marriage to Joy Morrison, who survives, December 21, 1984.



In addition to his wife, he leaves as his survivors two daughters, Debby Vandiver Dorris of Bolivar and Kimberly Vandiver Ouimet of Murfreesboro; a son, William Harvey Vandiver of Bolivar; eight grandchildren, Guy P. Dorris III, Candice A. Bunnie, Ginger D. Hatch, Harvey Lee Vandiver, Steven Lynn Vandiver, Sarah E. Pleace, Benjamin D. Pleace and Jacob M. Pleace; a stepson, Alan Wilbanks of Brownfield, MS; five step-grandchildren, Meghan Street, Haley Wilbanks, Alex Wilbanks, Sarah Martindale and Madison Martindale; a brother, Larry Vandiver of Franklin; four sisters, Annie Grace Jamerson of Bolivar, Faye Overton of Bolivar, Juanita Baker of Bolivar and Betty Zaller of Omaha, Nebraska; and 21 nieces and nephews.



He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Aubrey Vandiver, Jr. and Wayne Vandiver; a sister, Glenda Otta; and a stepson, Jeff Wilbanks.
