Wiley "Jody" Burkett Hathorn was born on June 23, 1959 in Jackson, Mississippi, the son of the late John Lewis Hathorn, Sr. and Jacqueline Adair Pierce Hathorn.
Mr. Hathorn honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Gulf War in 1982. He later worked as a saw mill operator and truck driver. Jody loved wood carving and was known as a master of "piddlin". He never met a stranger and always spoke his mind. He loved his family, both by blood and love. His family describe him as an angel watching over them all.
Wiley "Jody" Burkett Hathorn departed this life on August 23, 2025 in Adamsville, Tennessee, at the age of 66 years and 2 months.
He is survived by his daughter, Emily Moore (Ben) of Michie, Tennessee and Kelsey Kreutzman of Adamsville, Tennessee; sons, Caleb Smith of Adamsville, Tennessee and Michael Baker, Jr. (Marissa) of Tuscumbia, Alabama; brothers, John Lewis Hathorn, Jr. (Vickie) of Dyer, Tennessee and James Pierce Hathorn of Milan, Tennessee; sisters, Jennifer Leigh Hathorn Petty of Trenton, Tennessee, Jill Robin Hathorn Joyce (Mickey) of Milan, Tennessee, and Jessica Lynn Hathorn Wyatt (David) of Mercer, Tennessee; and grandchildren, Saylor, Gatlan, Karsen, Kreed, Chase, Hunter, Paitan, Landyn, Declan, and Annalia.
In additon to his parents, Jody was preceded in death by his sister, Jennifer Kreutzman.
