Jackson, TN: William Ray Barnes, age 75 passed away January 11, 2015 at the Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born January 13, 1939 in McNairy County, the son of the late Richard Thomas Barnes, Sr. and Annie Louise Mealer Barnes. He had done some construction work and then worked for the City of Jackson as a heavy equipment operator. After retiring from the City of Jackson he owned and operated Barnes Sanitation. Mr. Barnes was a member of the Faith Assembly Church in Jackson.
He is survived by a son, Jimmy Ray Barnes of Tiptonville and a daughter, Carolyn Henry of Humboldt; a step son, Michael Culp, Jr. of Memphis and a step daughter, Kindra Culp of Jackson; nine grandchildren; a brother, Richard T. Barnes of Huntingdon and four sisters, Judy Marie Staggs of Powell, TN, Gladys Ann Smallwood of Cleveland, OH, Elizabeth Lee Stanfill of Huntingdon and Donna Kay Barnes of Huntingdon.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Don Cartwright officiating and burial will follow in Bethesda Cemetery in McNairy County.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5 PM until 8 PM on Wednesday.
