William G. Biggers, II, 69 departed this world for his heavenly journey home on November 12, 2015.
His Memorial Service will be held at Shackelford’s Chapel on Saturday November 21, 2015 at 11:00.
He was born December 17, 1945 in Winona, Mississippi to Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Biggers.
He attended the University of Southern Mississippi, University of Mississippi and completed his degree in Hospital Business Administration through Health Care Sciences.
He entered the United States Air Force on January 11, 1968. During his time in service, he trained as a medic and cross-trained into hospital administration. However, his greatest achievement was becoming a member of the United States Air Force Pararescue Team. He lived by the team’s motto “that others may live”. During his time in the service, he proudly served two tours in Vietnam. He was stationed in Germany as well as other state-side locations. He was a recipient of three Purple Hearts. He was assigned to the Department of Defense the last four years of his service. He retired from the service on August 1, 1988 as a Master Sargent. After his retirement he worked for the Madison County Sheriff’s Department holding the position as Warden of the penal farm in Jackson, Tennessee.
He was a 32nd degree Mason (Darmstadt, Germany) and a Scottish Rite member, (Charleston, South Carolina).
In his leisure time, he enjoyed reading, wood work and traveling. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and guns. He always made sure his birds, deer and squirrel feeders were full. He stayed connected with family and friends through his time on the internet.
Mr. Biggers was a member of First Baptist Church. He sang in the Golden Sounds as well as in the adult choir. God gifted him with a beautiful tenor voice.
Mr. Biggers received one of his greatest joys on December 17, 2008 when his grandson William (Will) was born. He treasured that his grandson shared not only his name but his birthday as well. This created a bond that Will is going to cherish.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 44 years, Vivian Bryant Biggers; his daughter, Jennifer Clifft Malvezzi (Frank) of Cordova, TN; his sister Janet Biggers of Bolivar; his adopted parents James and Louise Pulliam; and his loving family, Max and Barbara Grant, all of Bolivar.
He is also survived by nephews Michael Clifft of Houston, Texas, Christopher and Patrick Goldstein of Memphis, Tennessee, Michael Shane (Des) and Tom Shane (Michelle) of Portage, Indiana and Joplihn Corradino (Erica) of Lake Station, IN. He also leaves behind his two beloved companions Peanut and Pumkin.
He is preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Christopher Biggers.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the American National Cancer Society or The Wounded Warriors Project.
