WILLIAM GERALD COLLINS
Deanburg, TN: William Gerald Collins age 71 passed away February 11, 2017 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born and reared in Madison County in the Bemis Community, son of the late Fred Oliver Collins and Vester Pearl Williams Collins. He went to school in Madison County and graduated from SouthSide High school in 1965. He married Mary Frances Murdaugh of Chester County and they made their home near Deanburg. Mr. Collins worked at the Bemis Mill and late at International Paper until his retirement in 2008 after more than 41 years. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Big Springs United Methodist Church in Medon.
Mr. Collins is survived by a son, Alan Collins and wife Tonya of Trinity, AL. and his companion Mary Frances Collins, four sisters; Wanda Grady, Connie Cottner, Gwen Wilson and Tina Ozment and two grandchildren; Dillion and Dakota Collins.
He was preceded in death by a brother Freddie Collins and sister Retia Mchugh.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday at the Big Springs United Methodist Church at 3825 Big Springs Rd. Medon, TN with Hiram Harrison officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery following the service. Shackelford – Casey Chapel of Henderson is in charge.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Monday.
