William Dewey Gammill

William Dewey Gammill was born on June 23, 1936 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the son of the late Leo M. and Luella Banks Gammill.

On April 9, 1977, he was united in marriage to Mattie Ruth Stricklin, who preceded her husband in death on January 17, 2016.

Mr. Gammill worked for the Hardin County Highway Department. He was a member of Savannah Church of Nazarene.

William Dewey Gammill departed this life on August 22, 2025 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 89 years, 1 month, and 30 days.

He is survived by his sister, Janell Russell of Savannah, Tennessee; caregivers, Jodie and Ricky Carroll of Savannah, Tennessee; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, William was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Lee Bain and Carolyn Joyce Adams; nephew, Gary Adams; niece, Julie A. Higgins; and great nephew, Garrett Bain.
