William Davis (Bill) Goodyear

William Davis "Bill" Goodyear, age 82, of Savannah, died on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

He was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Clifton Ross Goodyear and Mabel Joyce Kerr.

Bill was a cherished husband, father, and grandfather and he will be forever missed.

Bill was united in marriage to Julia (Judy) Enola Harrigill. The couple recently observed their sixtieth wedding anniversary.

He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Math and Chemistry from Lambuth College in Jackson, Tennessee. Initially, Bill worked as a chemist at TN River Pulp and Paper in Counce. In the early 80's he began working at the TN Department of Health in Jackson, Tennessee. His job was testing drinking water for quality and safety in nearby areas. Bill retired in 2009 after 27 years.

After retiring, Bill and Judy enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. He always looked forward to trips that included travel by air.

Attending grandkid's ballgames and other activities was important to Bill.

In his later 60's, Bill participated in local 5k runs. Other hobbies included crossword puzzles and drinking coffee on the screened-in porch.

Bill was a faithful memeber of First United Methodist Church in Savannah for 58 years. He served quietly in many capacities.

Some years ago, Bill was a memoer of a mens chorus at church. A favorite hymn song began "some bright morning when this life is over, I'll fly away... to that home on Gods' celestial shore, I'll fly away."

We rejoice that Bill has joined the heavenly chorus. He is home now!

Delivering "Meals on Wheels" was a way he gave of his time and heart. Bill was also an active rotary member.

In addition to his wife; he is survived by his daughter, Catherine "Cathy" Goodyear, Rowe (Justin) of Savannah, and his son Dave Goodyear (Brooke) of Chattanooga. His grandchildren are Caleb Rowe, Katie Rowe, Ella Goodyear, and Will Goodyear.

There are no immediate arrangements/services.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
